Is natural gas environmentally friendly?

For decades, natural gas has helped drive emissions reductions across the U.S. Between 1990 and 2019, the U.S. natural gas distribution system declined 69% in emissions, and residential emissions decreased 50% due to continued efficiency improvements.

How can I save on my natural gas bill?

Weatherization is an effective way to make your home more energy efficient and drive energy costs down. Customers can reduce usage by properly weatherizing their property, using natural gas appliances and keeping their water heater in good working condition. How can I get help paying my natural gas bill?

We have several programs to assist our customers with their natural gas bill in time of need. Visit atlantagaslight.com/energyassistance for more information and qualification requirements.

While Atlanta Gas Light operates and maintains the infrastructure delivering natural gas to Georgia’s homes and businesses, your natural gas marketer manages billing and collections. Please view marketer contact information for assistance with your customer account today. 

I need a contractor, can you provide a recommendation or referral?

Yes, customers are encouraged to use our find a contractor tool to locate a recommended qualified natural gas contractor in your area.

Are there any rebates available for natural gas products and appliances?

You can earn up to $3,000 in rebates when converting to new natural gas appliances. Review a list of energy-efficient natural gas appliances and instructions on how to apply here.

Do you offer discounts or assistance for senior citizens?

 

HopeWorks is an assistance program for seniors 65 or older who may qualify for a gas furnace or water heater repair. Please review the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must be an owner occupant of the property
  • You must meet program financial guidelines
  • You must purchase natural gas from a Georgia Public Service Commission-approved natural gas provider 

 

Senior Citizen Discount allows customers 65 years of age or older with a total annual combined household income of $25,760 or less to apply for a monthly discount of up to $14 off their base charge. Click here to review additional eligibility requirements and information on how to apply.

 

How will I know if the company is planning to do maintenance work in my area?

Visit Work in Your Neighborhood | Atlanta Gas Light for a list of larger construction projects our employees and contractors may be performing in your neighborhood as we continue to improve reliability.

Do you have to come in my home to relight my service? 

Yes, our technician would need to enter your home to perform this service and complete an overall safety evaluation. Atlanta Gas Light requires that a customer or authorized representative, 18 years of age or older, must be present during the time of service.

Who do I need to contact to add an additional service line, for additional appliances, to my home?

For an additional service line to your home when adding additional appliances, please complete a service request form.

I use (Gas South, GNG, etc.) not Atlanta Gas Light, why are your crews working at my property?

In Georgia’s natural gas market, Atlanta Gas Light owns, operates, and maintains the natural gas infrastructure including pipelines that transport natural gas to homes and businesses throughout the state. 

Atlanta Gas Light is also responsible for repairing damaged gas lines, disconnecting, and reconnecting service at the request of the Marketer, and helping customers restart their service in the unlikely event of an outage. Watch how we’re working for you.

Important reminder to call 811 before you dig

Before performing any outdoor projects, ensure you are working safely by calling 811 before you dig. There is no charge for the service and the call is free. Calling before you dig can not only save you money from unintentional damage, but it can also save your life. 

Additionally, if you notice a distinctive rotten egg odor, please do not hesitate to call us at 877.427.4321 or dial 911 once you are out of the area of the suspected leak. Be sure to stay away from the affected area until Atlanta Gas Light or safety personnel indicate it is safe to return.
