Georgia Hispanic Chamber
We presented a $15,000 check to the Georgia Hispanic Chamber to assist the chamber's Business Development Center in developing start-up businesses.
March for Babies
We’ve been a proud supporter of the Atlanta March for Babies for more than 15 years! This year, we’ll be walking in the April 22 March for Babies as a gold sponsor.
Disaster Relief
In February 2017, Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light presented a $20,000 donation to the Southwest Georgia Red Cross to assist Georgians impacted by severe storms.
Atlanta Gas Light donated $10,000 toward Blue Devil Family Park, which includes the building of a new baseball field for Bremen High School. In addition to a baseball field, a multi-purpose field has been designed and built. The funds donated by Atlanta Gas Light will go toward the continued construction of the park.
Atlanta Gas Light experienced an outage on its system Feb. 13, affecting natural gas service to approximately 3,500 customers in Bremen and Buchanan communities. Bremen High School served as the incident command center.
A check presentation occurred at the April 9, 2018, meeting of the Bremen Board of Education. Wendell Dallas, Vice President of Operations for Atlanta Gas Light, made the official presentation. Joining Mr. Dallas, from Atlanta Gas Light, was Phil Buchanan (Director of Regional Operations at the Carrollton Service Center), and Bryan Parks (Field Specialist at the Carrollton Service Center). Dr. Tim Huff, Principal of Bremen High School, and Coach Chris Brown, Bremen High School Head Baseball Coach, received the check on behalf of Bremen High School and Bremen City Schools.
Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) recently held its annual charity golf outing at the Country Club of the South where AGL employee volunteers and partners collaborated to raise $125,597 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children's), one of the nation's premier pediatric medical facilities. This year's contribution brings AGL's total to $350,000 in Children's funding over the last four years.
The event provides the funding needed to continue the research, training and innovation on which Children's has built its reputation. The award-winning pediatric hospital managed more than 1 million pediatric patients last year alone. Specifically, AGL has been a key funding source for Children's anesthesiology team, through whom Children's provides surgery for more than 40,000 kids each year.
"AGL is helping Children's fulfill our mission "to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow," said Children's Corporate Partnerships Development Officer, Michelle Bennett. "We understand that treating kids is very different from treating adults. Our hospitals are unique, going way beyond traditional medicine to create a healing environment specially designed for kids, and we couldn't do it without support like AGL's."
Charitable giving is a critical part of Children's commitment to providing the best care possible. Because of support from AGL, Children's anesthesiology team is pushing the envelope in using nerve blocks to prevent pain in children after surgery and has become a national leader in developing new and innovative strategies to combat bleeding in newborn babies and infants who require heart surgery.
AGL donations have also helped the Children's team:
"Children's is able to use these funds to research innovative ways to reduce pain in children undergoing extremely invasive surgeries," said AGL President, Bryan Batson. "I'm very proud of the partnership that we've built with Children's and I'm glad that AGL is able to play a role in bringing forth new, cutting edge technologies that benefit children," he added.
