Atlanta Gas Light Technicians are
First Responders in Emergencies

Who we are

Atlanta Gas Light, one of four natural gas distribution companies of Southern Company Gas– a wholly owned subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO)– provides natural gas delivery service to approximately 1.7 million customers in Georgia. In operation since 1856, the company is one of the oldest corporations in the state.

Our technicians maintain and service our natural gas infrastructure and equipment, including pipelines and meters year-round.

Why our work matters

Our natural gas technicians are first responders in the event of a natural gas leak, prioritizing safety above all as Safety First is our No. 1 value. For the safety of you and our employees, Atlanta Gas Light requires that a customer or authorized representative (18 years of age or older) must be present when our technicians enter a home or business to perform work and safety checks. Delays in access in reaching a residence or business and/or entering a premise could endanger the safety of our customers, their homes, and possibly neighbors, depending on the severity of the situation.

Our teams work closely with local first responders in emergency situations that may involve natural gas.

Therefore, it’s imperative that our employees have complete access to customer premises when an emergency order is called in by a customer or from one of our Georgia marketers so that we can quickly detect and make safe any potential natural gas leak immediately. In addition, we need access to perform essential and timely maintenance on our facilities in order to keep our infrastructure safe for customers.

Look for Atlanta Gas Light branded company vehicles and badges, and treat our AGL employees like any other first responders.
