Join Atlanta Gas Light in our Commitment to our Community

As many Georgia residents find themselves unsure where they will get their next paycheck from, Atlanta Gas Light, a subsidiary of Southern Company Gas, continues to ramp up recruitment efforts with plans to hire 200 entry-level positions.

As Atlanta Gas Light President Bryan Baston said, we are committed to keeping Georgia’s economy going, and ensuring access to energy during times like these is critical for our homes, our businesses and our health care facilities. Moving forward with our plans to bring on 200 new members of our team will increase our ability to provide the fast and responsive service our customers have come to expect.

The Future is Bright at Atlanta Gas Light

Interested in joining the team? We are looking for applicants with skills in heavy equipment operation, welding and plumbing. Those that have worked in heating, ventilation and air conditioning fields are preferred.

Our new hires will support efforts to grow system resiliency, customer experience, innovation and enhancement of compliance and safety efforts. They also will contribute to Atlanta Gas Light’s commitment to extend natural gas service to underserved areas, bringing affordable, clean energy to those who need it most.

Interviews will leverage conference calls and Skype to maintain social distancing precautions during this time, and we will work to ensure new employees have the equipment they need, access to buildings when necessary and provide virtual assistance to complete first day paperwork.

Coming Together for Georgia Communities

This hiring initiative comes at a critical time for Georgians affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our commitment to our customers and our community remains stronger than ever, despite the current economic uncertainty. The hardworking and dedicated employees at Atlanta Gas Light who continue to safely fuel Georgia, day in and day out, make this commitment a reality.

We recognize the unprecedented nature of this pandemic and, along with the entire Southern Company Gas family, are taking every step possible to give back to the community. Together, we announced a $2.5 million donation to COVID-19 relief efforts. In Georgia, we are working with the Public Service Commission and Georgia Watch on our plan to allocate $1 million for supplemental low-income energy assistance, with a specific focus on aiding the elderly, an especially vulnerable population during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Additionally, in recognition of the evolving economic situation, we have also instituted a moratorium on disconnections for nonpayment, ensuring those who are economically impacted by COVID-19 can continue receiving service.

The Southern Company Gas family remains committed to supporting Georgians in this time of crisis and understands how important economic stability is to those looking for a sense of normalcy. Learn more about what our company is doing in light of COVID-19 here
